About this product

Product Information

Sophie, an English ingenue with two children, arrives in Himalayan Kashmir to set up home in a tumbledown cottage surrounded by flowers and herbs. Settling down to live quietly, frugally and peacefully with her new neighbours, she is unaware of the turmoil her arrival provokes as the villagers compete fiercely for her patronage. Description over sold the condition of the product. Make sure you check the photos closely rather than trusting the condition category and written description. I was expecting 'like new' but got a 'good', however if I'd inspected the pictures more closely I might have noticed. Aside from that prompt postage, well packaged, quick and pleasant communication.

  • India in the thirties and forties is a different time.

not compelling but absorbing. All of this series are similar and have the same feel about them. The Black Narcissus book was softer than the BBC series but the background is the same. I enjoy them. Kashmir is reputed to be absolutely stunning.
