The show is one of the best comedies ever to be on TV. It is fiercely intelligent, witty , laugh out load funny, brilliantly acted , superbly cast, and post - modern. It's a riches to rags story of the self obsessed Bluth family. Michael the level,headed sharp witted son who is the glue that keeps them all together, his brother GOB ( aka George Oscar Bluth) the needy ,wannabe play boy , who is completely obsessed with his "career" in magic. Then there is the very weird and wonderful youngest brother Buster, who at 32 years old , still considers himself being 'raised 'by his mother ( whom he still lives with). Buster is child like, but scary. A great story arch is when Buster gets his first ever girlfriend, who happens to be the 70 year old neighbour, played by the wonderful Liza Minelli.Then there is the sister Linsay - Michaels twin. Linsay is a self proclaimed activist who hasn't got a clue. She flits from one cause to another, one day she is anti - fur , then next she is pro - fur because a guy she likes is pro - hunting! The matriarch of the family is the mother - Lucille. Lucille is a cold, calculating, feisty socialite. Who is over bearing towards the youngest son Buster, who in spite of this, happens who adores her. The dad ,George, is the president of the Bluth company. Who's dodgy business dealings, and cavalier attitude to fidelity, bring complete chaos to the whole family. Michael Cera, plays George - Michael, Michael's only son.He is studious and honest, however, he develops a hopeless and doomed crush on his estranged cousin Mabey (Lindsay's daughter).Maeby, is rebellious , savy, care free and not at all studious. Last , but by no means least, there is the glorious Tobias Funke, Linsay's husband. Tobias is a former psychiatrist ,who, after losing his medical licence trying to help a man he mistakenly thought was choking ( who consequently ended up with a broken sternum), thinks that "the universe wants him to become an actor"! He unwittingly uses double entendres every other sentence. He is a self - diagnosed ' never nude ' , who never removes his blue denim cut off's. Tobias is in denial of his homosexuality. Which is obvious to everyone else( including his wife Lindsay). This is a show that will surprise you and keep you laughing long after you have finished watching it.Read full review
A really great, funny US sit com packed with fantastically imaginative characters and ideas. The BBC chose to broadcast this in the middle of the night several years ago... but then they did the same thing with Seinfeld. Well worth having the complete three series.
I have owned this series for a verry long time and have now brought it again for a friends birthday. I realy cant say anouth about the arrested series it is one of the best things to have come from america and has cept me lafing time and time again.... I hope that thay will finaly get around to the film!
This is one of the best TV shows I've ever watched, and so cleverly written for something which is essentially a sitcom. My flatmate owned it, and when he moved out I missed Arrested Development more than I missed him! So I had to buy a copy for myself. There is something for everyone in the show, you will not be disappointed.
