Anyone who played Goldeneye on the N64 should know that this is a remake and not an upscaling of the original. While that's not a bad thing, there are some things missing that I felt should have been in this game. I myself am a fan of the previous 007 games, especially the PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox games. Those games really show how to make a 007 game work well and have you coming back for more. Key things in those games are missing from this title. Using gadgets doesn't really play a role in this game like the previous titles. Also, in the previous titles there were a certain amount of "007 moments" in each stage. These were awards for doing certain things like using your grappling hook to sneak in the base through the vents or shooting a wire to make a net full of boxes drop on a group of enemies. These were great features and I believe if you got every 007 moment in a level it would unlock something extra. Why were these omitted in this game? Beyond these absences there is still a great game to be had but it feels a step back from what I would consider a 007 game and is more of a run and gun title. It still manages to be fun and if your into 007 then you should definitely pick it up for the retelling of Goldeneye. If they had left in the 007 moments and had some gadgets to use in the levels beside things like nightvision goggles then this would have been a five star game. One last thing that should be noted is that even though the special edition came with a golden classic controller, this game begs to be played with the Wiimote and nunchuk. It makes aiming so much easier and is a must for the harder difficulty levels.Read full review
The game has great graphics, but the actual gameplay is difficult if you're not used to first person shooters on Wii. My advice would be to purchase the very inexpensive Wii Zapper guns, which will help your arms and wrists from aching after the first few minutes of play. You can get the Wii Zappers on eBay for as little as $7.00 + shipping and handling. We haven't tried the multiplayer yet, but I'm sure it's great. My wife just isn't into shooting "bad guys" for some reason. It definitely lives up to the hype and has a great story line, just as the original does, but throws in a few extras that keep it fresh. You should be able to find slightly used copies of this Wii game for between $30-$40. Some may even come with the Wii Zapper for a few extra dollars. Stay away from purchasing the new copies with the gun included and save yourself some money. Enjoy!Read full review
The game arrived on time, and was in excellent condition. It's a super fun first-person shooter, especially with the Wii Zapper, and incorporates a refreshing amount of stealth and strategy absent in many modern shooters. The graphics aren't great, it easily looks like a GameCube game, but the gameplay is solid. The story is also pretty fun, with a perfect balance of tense James Bond action and awesomeness and quirky, humorous easter eggs. I've never played the original Nintendo 64 GoldenEye 007, but GoldenEye for Wii is a super fun single-player game. I haven't yet played the local multiplayer, but I'm sure it will be a blast. I also adore the many controller options- the Wiimote and Nunchuck by themselves, the Wiimote and Nunchuck inside the Wii Zapper, the GameCube controller, and the Classic Controller. Great game and well-worth your time!Read full review

This is fantastic! Great 1st person shooter for the Wii. The only complaint with 1 player play is this continued notion of keeping a player on a leash through game play. The old N64 didn't require that of its players. This game is smart, exciting, and a brilliant update of the old title. I ended up playing the old 007 flick after I finished just to see how the video game made for a better story. Another flaw - the networking apparently needs tweaking. Somehow the programers just assume that you have complete access to your network hub and know how to fiddle around with it. This is the Wii - for heavens sake! A family machine! I still have yet to make it work. Can't wait for when I do.
The game itself is one of the most popular Wii shooter games because it follows the James Bond movie themes and allows single or multi-player with several display screen options. I have 2 boys age 11 & 12 and the split-screen play option is preferred. The guns are nothing more than a glitzy trinket. They are a plastic shell and you simply insert the Wii controller body into the gun shell. The gun triggers (two triggers) are simple plastic levers that will press the respective controller buttons....when you pull the trigger(s). No, you don't need the glitzy guns to play the game. The guns are actually an overpriced marketing trinket. Nintendo knows it and now you do, too.......it's all part of the game!
Ah, Goldeneye. I had seen this come out a number of years ago, and being a fan of the original for the N64, I finally decided to buy the now-outdated Wii version. What I found is a fun FPS with some callbacks to the original, although the Nunchuck controls take a lot of getting used to (I ended up buying a set of GameCube controllers after a few missions), and I am not a fan of them changing out Pierce Brosnan with Daniel Craig as Bond. Though they are both great in the role, Goldeneye is Brosnan's movie, and his game. Still, a worthwhile purchase, and a great Bond game (though nothing thus far can compare to the original, which I still have).

The game is great... the guns are set up a little weird. The gunfire graphics have improved from previous versions on other systems. None of the control configurations in the game settings really work well with the golden gun. I have learned to deal with it using the lower trigger to fire instead of the regular one. It was well worth it for the look on the faces when you pull out the shiny golden guns though.
This game is so much fun out of the box! I would highly suggest playing with the pro controllers instead of the wii remotes and nunchucks, they are too sensitive for me. I'm excited to see how this story unfolds, seeing as goldeneye for N64 is one of my all time favorite games. This is visually one of the best games I have seen on the wii and the multiplayer both on and offline is such a good time. The online is just like Call of Duty with experience, achievements, kit sets....a must have for the wii if you like shooters!
I wanted to purchase this game because the different reviews on the internet made it sound like a good game for the Wii. Those reviews were right. This is a very fun game, with a great campaign, and very fun multiplayer. One thing that attracted me to this game is that it has multiplayer on the same Wii which is a very fun thing to be able to do with friends and family. Along with being able to play on the same Wii you can also play on the internet (although if you are getting this game to only play on the internet you might as well purchase Call of Duty since their online modes are basically the same thing, but I would say that Call of Duty's is probably better). There isn't a whole lot that I dislike about this game, except some of the multiplayer game modes that are online are not available when you are playing with friends on the same Wii, but this isn't a big deal. Overall I would definitely recommend this game for it's great campaign, and very fun multiplayer both on and offline.Read full review
I have yet to be addicted to a game like this. Wow the multiplayer is really awesome. I can see why it got multiplayer game of the year. Two, short comings. One, uneven teams at times that make it almost impossible to win. Two, it takes absolutely forever for get all of the guns and special items. This is still worth it because I will play it likely for a long time.
