Having been used to air powered 1/2" drive tools at work I researched electric powered ones. I chose the Draper 1000w mains unit. The tool is well put together but heavy <3.5 kg. It is fairly large so no use in confined spaces. I noticed that some reviewers have mentioned the trigger switch (rocker type). I found this to easy to operate and providing you squeeze the trigger before engaging any bolt (just to be certain you have the direction correct), it is fine. # WARNING # This is a very powerful tool so be exceptionally careful when using it to tighten Nuts/bolts. It has NO adjustable torque settings. So everything will be tightened to over 400 Nm. I use it to undo the driveshaft nuts on vehicles. It is perfect for this job. In short a great tool if used correctly.

It's main job is to remove stubborn fixings. These fixtures are of course normally undone anti-clockwise. Why of earth then would you produce the item with a forward and reverse control on the same trigger. It is far too easy to accidentally fire it up in the wrong direction, this action without any form of torque control means it is very easy to shear off bolts. This very powerful impact gun should be fitted with a separate left/right control as fitted to most hand drills. I am going to glue a protruding button or similar to part of the trigger to help avoid pressing wrong part of trigger.....I have manage to shear of a bolt already due to this silly trigger design fault.

I first bought the vonhaus brand for £35 then it smoked due to over heating when I tried undoing my rear drum brake drum. I returned it and got this one about twice the previous price. Look, if you're looking for a power horse that does the toughest ever job then buy this. My son and his mates are cars DIYers and they put this beast through some extremely tough jobs. They didn't even bother first applying penetrating lubricant and this beast just flew all the rusty bolts out like paper. It is so over- powered that it damaged a bolt when my kid continuously over tightened bolt stupidly. With that said, this thing has some flaws: It is a bit heavier and bulkier to home in you car booth so it might not reach bolts between tighter areas. The manufacturer made an error by placing the forward and reverse on same button which means one could shred a bolt when over tighten rather than undoing. I've got an inverter so no problem for power source when mobile. Please do not settle for those cheap ones like I did. Go for anything which is a thousand watts or plus like this one. Seems well made and robust, bought to quickly remove car wheel nuts and tractor repairs which it does very well. Nice long lead too. No torque but it has variable speed on the trigger. Cheap and works well.
