I purchased this unit after becoming sick and tired of Virgin price increases but required something faster than the guaranteed download speed of 3Mb of an ADSL line in my area. The unit was paired initially with a Vodaphone (4G) data SIM and whilst the download speed was perfectly acceptable at around 30 to 40Mb the signal strength indicator varied between one and three lights. My nephew recommended a Smarty SIM which I understand is on the 3 network. This proved a real improvement with three continuous lights on signal strength and around 55Mb download speed. I have since found out that the local 3 relay mast is within line of sight of my router. All in all I am please that I changed to this unit and not to forget that as I’m saving around £37 a month I will recoup the router price in just over three months! There is one thing to add - I would recommend that anybody considering this alternative approach should do some homework and sort out what network provider uses their nearest transmitter mast. After that, buy a SIM from that provider and get the router as near to that mast as possible.Read full review

Works as I had hoped depending on your carriers strength depends the speed of data. I am receiving a 3 star signal and depending on the time of day, I get between 22 mbs and 50mbs More than enough for my HDTV and 3 users
