I wanted a little portable radio. The Roberts Sports 925 gets very good reviews so I opted for it. Curry's had the best price including free delivery. It is well made with a quality feel. The sound is good for the size of the unit. Reception on FM is very good. I struggled to get MW or LW reception and there was quite a bit of interference on the MW channel I did get. This could be down to my location or the time of day I was trying it. Overall I am pleased with my purchase. One word of caution - Do not mistakenly think as I did that the Roberts Sports 925 will miraculously improve your sporting ability. At the end of the day it is a radio. It is Sport in name only and holds no magical powers.

Only long wave works and gives me radio4 (sometimes!) which I wanted, hence the one star. The on/off/volume switch crackles so badly, it seems barely connected and I often give up. I don’t think this should have been sold as in good working order. I Would never buy second hand again.

I had long since avoided buying a cheap pocket transistor radio, because of my memories of their pooor quality from my teenage years [in the 60's & 70's], but with the recent advent of my new garage/workshop [no mains power yet] I thought nthis might be an option for the present, I was given added confidence in my purchase because of the 'Roberts' name on the product knowing their long experience quality radios of all types for many decades - I was NOT dissapointed!, I can now truthfully atest to the fact that this little 'Roberts' is a brilliant little reciever, my preference is for 'classical [or 'timeless'] music, so I was rather apprehensive as to reproduction quality, but I nmeed not have been concerned, because this little beauty has astonished me with its remarkable sound repro quality for such a tiny 'driver' but truly 'bass 'response for a driver of >then 2" diameter- is/was very pleasing [and I am a forward critic of poor 'timeless' music repro/quality, etc., But this little Roberts is actually good enough for me to be able to listen to for hours at a time [work schedule permitting or not!] So, it is stored securely, treted with the utmost care and respect, and I still marvel at the highly acceptable quyaltiy of reception and sound repro. quality, clearly tech. has moved on lots, since the 60's, thank goodness and Robert, long may they continue.Read full review

Generally a well made radio, though the battery cover could have a tighter and more secure closure. Tone is very good and tuning is positive. Carrying strap is very tricky to thread through a very small hole. Headphones not included, and the size of the radio makes it perhaps slightly larger than most people would want to hand-carry. At the price offered though I would highly recommend it, bearing in mind the above. Takes two AAA batteries. Folding telescopic aerial included.
Exceptional reception, truly useful MW and LW, even between concrete walls in a busy city. FM selection can be tricky on very crowded bands, but that’s understandable with such a small tuning scale. Build quality is great. Sound is warm and pleasant. Batteries last forever.
