The EOS 3 stands out because of its extraordinary autofocus system, which is so much faster and easier to use and to set than anything available today. It has Eye Controlled Focus, a name which doesn't do this system justice. The AF system is constantly looking at your eye, and already knows where you're looking when you press the shutter, so without you even having to think, the EOS 3 already knows where it needs to focus, and it just does. The EOS 3's AF system is far ahead of today's cameras, which no longer use this expensive system. With newer cameras, we again have to slave through dicking around with knobs and dials to choose AF points, something the EOS 3 does all by itself. Add the PB-E2 Booster and you have a 7fps camera which uses 8x AA batteries - no expensive 2CR5s, just bog standard rechargeable AAs.Read full review

The last of the great 35mm film cameras. Wonderful solid feel. It's electronics are extraordinary, including monitoring your eye movement to tell where you want to focus. Built for reliability.

Intro I was looking for a 35mm film camera that can autofocus and occupy my EF lenses. Then I found the 10frames/s on 1v is not necessary just like the nowadays EOS 1D series. EOS-5 and EOS-3 are more like the 5D mk2 and mark III. EOS-3 is more advanced than EOS-5, with 45 focusing points, 21 metering zones, eye control focusing and multi-exposure up to 9 times. All the other functions and buttons are just like the EOS DSLRs. For the functions, EOS-3 is better than EOS 1, 1N, and 5. Hands on Experience I have already finished 4 rolls with my EOS-3. The AF is possibly faster than 5D mk2. The eye control needs some calibration and practise. Double exposure just becomes incredibly easy and amazing. Exposure is much more accurate at low light condition than the Canon A-1 I had. The more I use EOS-3, the more I like it. Pros: 45 focusing points, 21 metering zones, eye control, build quality, good looking, improvements in ETTL with external flash; Cons: not water/dust resistance, big size, loud shutter sound;Read full review

Very good quality product. Very happy with the speed of the item arriving and coming complete with the original box and manuals was a big bonus.

I should have got one years ago, I had forgotten what a good discipline taking a camera out with a 36 exposure roll of film loaded is . . . .

I bought it because if was cheap. I like it that it is one of the best camera. I do not like that I can not try it because it does not have booster on it. I would buy it again.
Eos 3 SLR film camera serious professional tool with PB-E2 booster is as solid as a brick. Eye controlled focus with 45 wide area auto focus with rotary magnet shutter delivers 1/8000 to 30 second.Evaluative metering system is amazing, weather resistant design.Well done CANON...
I use both Digital and film and have some nice examples of both, but I wanted a top of the line 35mm camera to complete my collection. The EOS 3 has features that leave most digital users green with envy. This is a full pro specification camera in a top quality consumer body. In fact only the final version of the (much more expensive) EOS 1v - equals or exceeds it! With stunningly fast and adaptable 45 point autofocus system as well as Eye Control focus it's still VERY hard to beat. Couple this to one of (if not the) best metering systems going, plus a decent frame rate, or a very good frame rate with the optional grip attached, and you have a 35mm film camera that is about as good as it gets. If I were to be VERY petty the battery change could be a little neater - but the system Canon use allows for more secure mounting of a Battery Grip so it's swings and roundabouts! Fully compatable with all EOS lenses and all but the very oldest third party lenses make the EOS 3 a serious workhorse for pro or advanced photographers. To Quote Amateur Photography Magazine - for film users this is as good as it gets!Read full review
