Synopsis(Piano/Vocal/Guitar Artist Songbook). David Rosenthal, Billy's keyboardist and Music Director, has carefully arranged all the tracks from Joel's classic 1973 release to combine the piano parts and vocal melodies into playable arrangements while transcribing those classic piano parts that are integral to each song. This book features the iconic title track and nine others: Ain't No Crime * (The) Ballad of Billy the Kid * Captain Jack * If I Only Had the Words (To Tell You) * Somewhere Along the Line * Stop in Nevada * Travelin' Prayer * Worse Comes to Worst * You're My Home. Also includes a foreword by David Rosenthal.

  • I enjoyed the old version better

The overall book is better made, but the music written is a bit different and sometimes I resort to the old version or will ignore certain things or put my own twist. The older version was more simplistic and flowed better, but some good extra things are in this book like the real intro to Piano Man...you still have to imagine the record and make it sound right! It was one of my very first book I learned on in the late 70's still a very good book that almost anyone will like your playing and singing. It saved me once as a band emergency fill in so I played the book as a warm up...it was the only reason we got paid...it was saved the band!!
