Frederick O. Hip well. Author of 'Religious Myths'.

Surely this book is one of the best ever in helping to do away with the wild misguided nonsense which prevails throughout most religions. I have been an atheist for 70 years and I did not have a book such as this to convince me that there is no God. The Bible can be totally derided and regarded solely as what it really is, a misguided and utterly absurd collection of wildly exaggerated stories which have been written by imaginative scribes of long ago. Surely no credence can be given to any of the contents of the Bible. People who read the 'God Delusion' surely must be convinced by the compelling content - if not then they have been misled to the point where delusion rules their beliefs.

  • Most critical review

    Heavy going

Whilst it does make many valid points it is extremely heavy going, it is certainly not a light read. It goes very deep on the subject.

  • Compulsory read for all children and adults

The world needs to grow up, God is a nice idea like Father Christmas, however some people are unable to understand the facts, this book will educate them. Also great for answering the door to the Jehovah's and then quoting articles from it. This review is NOT from Angela it's from her husband James. I did feel though that some points may not have been covered fully, if religion helps, comforts and does no harm to those individuals then is it really wrong, even though deep down we know it's just a nice story.

  • Amused

I'm about half way through - I'm a 'committed' Atheist and didn't bother with this book when it first came out (although I have read and thoroughly enjoyed some other of Dawkins' books) because I didn't think it would tell me anything I didn't already know. However, here I am half way through and I find it compelling ... but what I didn't expect is that it would be so funny! In his other books, say 'Ancestors' Tale', I did get a bit fed up with the digs at creationists every other page but in this book the digs come thick and fast and almost unbelievable in some cases - and they're in the right book! I have read some of the reviews of the book when it first came out - a lot of the criticism is rebuffed with excellent logic in the preface. It seems that it also appeals to religious people - ...

  • Interesting Book

This book may come across rather forceful at times but the nature of the book is to open ones eyes to the world and gain a broader understanding of the truth behind religion and beliefs. I would definitely recommend this book to all as it truly is an exceptional read with a cleverly executed purpose.
