Including the great masterpiece Flora and Fauna. The year 2016 was the 300th anniversary of the birth of Jakuchu Ito, the driving force of the Japanese art boom today. An exhibition held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum The 300th Anniversary of his Birth: Jakuchu opened with huge fanfare, and included a special feature to display all 30 screens of the great masterpiece Flora and Fauna, which belongs to the Museum of the Imperial Collections. This is the foremost edition of Jakuchu Ito and the definitive way to enjoy his most renowned masterpiece, Flora and Fauna in actual size. Thirty scroll-width pictures are filled with abundant animals and plants drawn vividly by Jakuchu. Some areas of the pictures were created using the urazaishiki technique (coloring from the back), which is often used in Buddhist paintings. The magnetism of his works have attracted art fans throughout the ages.
