These are so badly made, they defy description, but I'll try.
These things don't grip the workpiece, they just keep slipping off. This is because there's too much play/slap between the handles caused by the centre rivet too long and hasn't been compressed enough. The gap is so enormous that the handles can actually cross over each other. This is something you'd see on a pair of older worn out pliers. Channellock used to be a reputable branded tool but, their standards and quality have clearly taken a tumble. Don't buy these, you'll be massively disappointed with them. It says on the packaging made in USA, but I've been told that they're assembled there but using components made in China. Stick with Knippex, or CK or Gedore. Give these a miss.
The Newer ones seem to have softer Steel than the original ones from the 90's. The oldest pair still got worn on the pin and started jumping, they stay in the Kitchen Drawer now. Used to do a lot of screwed iron pipe (upto 1"BSP) with them. Nowadays it's Heat Pumps and 28mm Copper mostly so they'll last a bit Longer. Only bought these recently as lost the pair which later turned up.
