      Interesting but..

Interesting. This is not from the Christian perspective. Just so you know. More one consciousness. But with certain clues. Some of the clues he has yet to work out. He does not go into detail about what he saw. But he does give some. There are not the words to describe out of this world experience. Because it is just that! Out of this world. He uses a lot of his scientific knowledge. And fact based science. Very helpful. But I felt he missed something essential in what he saw. Maybe that was was shown him that way on purpose. The west is so typically closed to truth outside this physical world. They deny spiritual exists. So God has to use different methods, to take us out of our stupid ‘religious mode’ blindness. Both for Christians and non Christians!. A good book. Some truths were ...

      Hard going

I really looked forward to reading this book but unfortunately I lost interest half way through. I am a spiritualist and love to read books of the afterlife usually finding I can't put them down. I have never given a bad review yet but I found parts of the description of where the author went unnerved me. Also there was a lot of doctors wording which went on too much and I found myself skipping pages. I think it's possible the book will get more interesting and I will read it to the end.

    • Awesome

awesome experience described with feeling and emotion and hitting the boundary of current scientific understanding. As a none religious person I took the reference to God as universal energy / life force. The Consiousness of Everything is so so unknown and fascinating - for me that was the ultimate essence of Dr Alexanders experience and one of the key things he wants us all to undrstand, and for sciece to explain (if it ever can !). Read it to the end - as with all great books the last 3 chapters are wow.

    • Out of this world!

Well - what an amazing book this is. Dr Eben Alexanders' story is absolutely incredible. I couldn't put the book down. Fantastically written journey into the afterlife. The scientific evidence and his knowledge and understanding of being a Neurosurgeon was a very powerful tool. It was easy to read and provided a very moving account about his experience. I would highly recommend this book.

    • An Amazing Story

This is a detailed account of an NDE (Near Death Experience), but what makes it compelling is that the subject is a committed man of science, a top Neurologist. For one thing this makes the account a good deal more credible than your average account, for another thing he systematically disposes of scientific explanations from the point of view of established neuroscience. Finally what he describes is a "perfect storm" near death experience that he had whilst in a coma due to a nasty bout of bacterial meningitis that very nearly killed him, a state in which he assures us that his brain could not possibly have been generating the experiences he reports. While he doesn't provide any external means of verification beyond a medical statement to that effect by an independent medic, for me the ...
