In Richard Marquand's WWII-era thriller, Faber (Donald Sutherland), a German spy washes up on a small island off the Scottish coast and is taken in by Lucy, (Kate Nelligan), the frustrated wife of a paraplegic (Christopher Cazenove).     Excellent Adaption

    I first Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett this year and really enjoyed it. I couldn't wait to see the film and it was worth the wait. Bits of it are a slightly dated but overall the film is an excellent adaption. It stays largely faithful to the book and is filled with well chosen character actors. Donald Sutherland was great as the 'needle' and played the part really well. Kate Nelligan was also brilliant and beautiful as Lucy Rose the heroin of the story. For a small budget film it wasn't bad at all.
