The paranormal role-playing series where players must balance daily life as a high school student while battling demons and other supernatural forces at night returns with this update to the PlayStation 2's Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4. Persona 4 Golden features upgraded graphics, extra story events, more voiced dialog, additional Personas to collect, and a new character. Atlus has also implemented a new feature that provides users with the ability to ask other players for assistance when they are near death in the TV world.<br><br>The storyline is set in Japan, in the pastoral town of Inaba, which has been upended with news of a ghastly murder. After more bizarrely staged murders take place, the protagonist and a few of his closest friends begin to investigate those responsible for the serial slayings. In between the sleuthing, the lead character will have to attend classes, build relationships, and complete part-time jobs. Once inside the shadowy realm, players can freely explore each area and issue commands to each teenager during turn-based battles. The decisions made during the character's dual life influences the type of ending users will receive.

    Nice upgrade to the PS2 original!

    Persona 4 Golden is a great version of Persona 4. One of the things I enjoy about this game is the New Game + option. The original game didn't have post-game content. Golden also has updated graphics. This is not like the PSP port of Persona 3, at all. There's an additional character added to the story, more Personas, additional social links, more anime styled cutscenes, character outfits, and additional spoken lines. Also, you can call in other players to help you during tough dungeon battles using the PSVita's wi-fi capabilities. Overall, if you love the Persona series, play Persona 4 Golden. If you have already played Persona 4 for PS2, this is up for you to decide if you liked the story or not. At this point, getting a used copy is definitely worth it!

    Golden shines

    There is little bad to say about the Persona series. Excellent music, great storytelling, compelling characters, it has it all. Persona 4 Golden takes the most cheerful Persona story (if you can call any story featuring murder cheerful) and adds a new character along with a new dungeon and new mechanics. If you enjoyed the original you owe it to yourself to play Golden. It is well worth buying a Vita or Playstation TV for.

    The Golden Series

    Persona as a franchise is a fantastic game series. Atlus in general makes great games, but the Persona series of games is quite unique. With compelling story lines and complex features it makes for a great game. The only issue I have with Persona games is that the duration between active level crawling and story oriented progress can drag at times (sometimes up to an hour or more of just working on what are known as "Social Links" in the game). It is something that can throw those new to the series for a curve. Once you get into the series though, it's great fun and a compelling adventure.

    Persona 5 is the reason I wanted to get a vita and play Persona 4 Golden. I can't believe all these years, I was completely unaware and overlooked this this amazing franchise. After I realized how nearly impossible it would be to get the Persona 4 Golden skin (made by Atlus), I was feeling like it was just too late. They make other "custome" skins but none comes close to looking as amazing as THIS one. $39.99 I was definitely willing to pay for a skin of a masterpiece of a game that you could ONLY get by preordering in the year 2012 and it looks DAMN GOOD on my Vita. I rate 5 STARS!!!!!!

    Own a vita? Buy it.

    To me this is the pinnacle of the vita, it just works so well as a handheld game/story. I have bought this game on 3 separate occasions just to play it again, I am on my third playthrough and I am enjoying it just as much if not more than the first time. Great graphics and very vibrant colors, love the story options and battle system. Even if you are not into turn based rpg games you really need to give this a try.
