Synopsis
A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER #1 New York Times -bestselling author Jan Karon returns with the fourteenth novel in the beloved Mitford series, featuring three generations of Kavanaghs. Wounds heal, bonds grow stronger, and celebrations continue...Welcome back to beloved Mitford. After twelve years of wrestling with the conflicts of retirement, Father Tim Kavanagh realizes he doesn't need a steady job to prove himself. Then he's given one. As for what it proves, heaven only knows. Millions of Karon fans will be thrilled that it's life as usual in the wildly popular Mitford series: A beloved town character lands a front-page obituary, but who was it, exactly, who died? And what about the former mayor, born the year Lindbergh landed in Paris, who's still running for office? All this, of course, is but a feather on the wind compared to Muse editor J.C. Hogan's desperate attempts to find a cure for his marital woes. Will it be high-def TV or his pork-chop marinade? In fiction, as in real life, there are no guarantees. Twenty minutes from Mitford at Meadowgate Farm, newlyweds Dooley and Lace Kavanagh face a crisis that devastates their bank account and impacts their family vet practice. But there is still a lot to celebrate, as their adopted son, Jack, looks forward to the most important day of his life--with great cooking, country music, and lots of people who love him. Happily, it will also be a day when the terrible wound in Dooley's biological family begins to heal because of a game--let's just call it a miracle--that breaks all the rules. In To Be Where You Are , Jan Karon weaves together the richly comic and compelling lives of two Kavanagh families, and a cast of characters that readers around the world now love like kin., After twelve years of wrestling with the conflicts of retirement, Father Tim Kavanagh realizes he doesn't need a steady job to prove himself. Then he's given one--but what, exactly, does it prove? Meanwhile, newly married Dooley and Lace face a crisis that empties their bank account and turns their household upside down. Is the honeymoon over? Is this where real life begins? As the Mitford Muse editor stumbles on a quick fix for marital woes and the town grocer falls in love for the first time, Father Tim and Cynthia receive an invitation to yet another family wedding. But perhaps the bottom line is this- While a star blinks out in the Mitford firmament, another soon blinks on at Meadowgate, and four-year-old Jack Tyler looks forward to the biggest day of his life--for now and forever. Jan Karon weaves together the everyday lives of two families, and the cast of characters that readers around the world now love like kin.

The book looks to be brand new, better than described! It was shipped quickly, and I'm glad to say it survived being packaged in only a mylar envelope. I would like to see better packaging, but what the hey, it arrived in one piece, so I'll be grateful for that. I would not hesitate to purchase from this Seller again. Thank you, halfpricebooksrecordsmag, for a perfect transaction!

All of the titles in this series are right on. If you pick up the book, the title usually means nothing - until you start reading.

I love the Mitford Series (Father Tim), and was happy to find that there was a book I had not read yet. I own the entire series, mostly in hardback, and was so pleased to get the hardback at a spectacularly good price, including shipping. I just finished reading the entire series again - either the third or fourth time, but this is the first time for the last book in the series. I wish it would go on and on and on. There were plenty of things left up in the air that could make another wonderful book for the series. Hint, hint!

  • Most critical review

Very dissapointed in the story line.

This so called last book in the series wasn't near as good as all the rest of the series. Father Tim wasn't in it as much as I would of liked. It was like a recap of everything over the years. Maybe Ms. Karon just needed some more money and figured this would do it. It sure felt that way. I was so disappointed in this book! Wouldn't have missed it if I hadn't of read it.

  • To be where you are. Jan Karon, author

This is the last book in the Mitford/Fr.Tim series and one of my very favorites. As we say good-bye at least we know that all is/or will be well in this heartwarming series. Don’t miss this one!

  • Perfect purchase

The book was in excellent condition and wasn’t rated that high by the seller so I was delighted. I’m enjoying the book and it almost completes my Jan Karon collection. The characters are charming, believable and consistent to their personalities in the previous books. Jan Karon continues to expand the group of characters and adds new locations and experiences. The story was engaging and even educational in a delightful way when veterinary practices are dealt with and varieties of flowers and plants and crops are talked about. There are many issues of life that are part of the story and encouraging solutions show that challenges can be met and overcome and if they can’t be overcome, there are ways to live with them.
