    Simple brewer for strong coffee

    The moka pot does a good job of making strong coffee. If you like strong coffee, you should consider it. It isn't espresso, but it is much more affordable than an espresso machine. You cannot set it and forget it like a drip brewer, you have to pay attention while it is brewing. The coffee serving the manufacturer references is about 2 fl oz. A six cup brewer is good for two people. Operation is simple. Fill the water to just below the safety valve, fill the basket full, screw it together and put it on the heat. Keep the heat on medium to start, but once the coffee flow starts coming out, drop it to low; cut it off when the coffee flow starts to sputter. The result is a good cup of strong coffee. Cleanup is simple, just throw away the grounds and rinse, no filters, no waste. I would buy ...

    Good coffee takes a certain degree of extra effort.

    The product definitely produces a good tasting coffee. For those accustomed to automatic coffee makers, this product may seem slow and labor intensive. My biggest complaint about it is that it requires a certain amount of monitoring once you've started heating the unit. The heat source beneath the unit must be turned off when brewing is completed, of course. And there is no way to know when that happens without being in the same room with the unit so that you can hear when it stops percolating.

    Normally a great product...
