Representing the point at which American television reached a level of mature artistry, MOONLIGHTING took the medium to new heights of sophistication while maintaining a sense of lighthearted fun. Fusing the drama and comedy genres while offering convoluted plotlines filled with "serious" situations and cultural references, the show delivered laughs according to the tropes of more straightforward sitcoms. The show is focused on uncompromising former model Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd, THE LAST PICTURE SHOW), who loses her fortune to an embezzling accountant; all she has left are a few money-losing businesses retained as tax write-offs. Among these is the Blue Moon Detective Agency, which Maddie plans to sell off until the fast-talking detective David Addison (Bruce Willis, DIE HARD, THE SIXTH SENSE, PULP FICTION) convinces her that the business can turn a profit. The two form a partnership, solving the eccentric cases that are forever turning up at Blue Moon. Meanwhile, the wisecracking, smart, but slovenly David and the beautiful, icy, slightly snobbish Maddie navigate the growing romantic tension between them. In the first two seasons, Maddie and David discover a dead body that goes missing as soon as they report it; a woman who thinks she's a leprechaun wants to hire Blue Moon's services; and a man who has put a hit on himself hires Dave and Maddie to call it off. Episodes include "Gunfight at the So-So Corral," "Next Stop Murder," "Brother, Can You Spare a Blonde?" and "In God We Strongly Suspect."

    Once in a lifetime series

    There's no other series like it. Bruce Willis is at the start of his career, and Cybill Shepherd is smart as she is gorgeous. A great connection there. The concept, the sharp writing, and the situation that brought us this show will just never happen again. I have two wishes for the Powers That Be: #1 Re-issue this on DVD. #2 Consider not a remake or a reunion, but a look at the lives of David & Maddie 25 years (or however many it is) later. I would love to see a movie or series or miniseries that imagines these two characters in their middle years having learned many of life's lessons as we all do, and what that relationship looks like now. Have they been together all this time (with children, grandchildren) and comfortably sparring all the way?? Have they lived separate happy ...

    Still as funny as I remember.

    The first two seasons are still as funny as I remember. The dialog and chemistry between the leads is quite good. The mysteries, while good, are almost secondary to the repartee. I had trouble with reading disk 2. I eventually had to find the episode I couldn't read on some Internet site. THIS WAS NOT THE FAULT OF THE VENDOR. THE DISK WAS FACTORY SEALED, AND THE SURFACE LOOKED GOOD. I think this was a problem with the manufactuer.

    The best of the whole series.

    The pilot episode is worth the price of the whole dvd set. A lot of sparks fly as Maddie and David try to make it work. Cybill Shepherd is the perfect prima donna gone broke. Bruce Willis is over the top in his role as David Addison. The writers were amazing with the one-liners. Buy it. Watch it. You'll love it.

    worth the money to own these episodes they are among the best of the series, especially the pilot

    Classic series not available to stream anywhere DVD set is hard to find at a reasonable price, I lost my set in a fire and slowly began looking to replace them, this was a fair price as it combines season 1 and 2 for a total of 19 episodes, later seasons can sell up to 60 or 100 for 13 episode sets. delivery was fast given recent post office issues as well
