I purchased this to stretch rings made from coins. So far, the device works better than I expected. Hammering the expanding rod down with the provided plastic base works well and is more stable than I thought it would be. I haven't had the chance to use it in the press but used a brass hammer. I think they the plastic base needs a slight modification to accommodate turning the expander over so you can hammer/press the rod back out. I had to use a vise to hold the piece to hammer the rob back out. Annealing the ring first is a must and as many times as necessary as the ring work hardens. You do have to hammer the rod almost all the way down in order to get the ring to slip over the next guide rib. Seating the ring down well against the guide rib helps keep the ring level during stretching. Not a replacement for a professional ring stretcher/reducer but well worth the price and easy to carry outside the shop. I did not experience any flaking off of the finish as some other have reported with their product. And the unit I have is not suitable for really small rings but should handle most medium sizes without a problem.Read full review

I apologize for not letting you know before now. It will be of good value to me, but I haven't been able to use the ring stretcher because I don't have any instructions and can't figure it out alone. Can I get instructions sent to me? Thank you. Sheila Cooper

It was very easy to use. If you are nervous theres plenty of youtube vids to help using this product. It worked on all my girls rings. Saved hundreds of dollars resizing rings with this instead of using a jeweler.

Needed to enlarge a ring. This device took care of it in about five minutes. Two cautions: 1) It would be very easy to overshoot and make a ring too large; 2) Will not work on very small rings--the smallest setting on this tool was just barely small enough for my ring.

It does the intended job well. I've stretched a fairly think sterling silver ring with it, without a problem. I'd recommend using a vise or small press rather than a hammer. If it had a smoother polished finish, i would have given 5 stars.
