Come to find out the intake adapter was “hand machined” to too small of a diameter and was sucking air in between the carb and intake boot. I purchased the TM36-31 from MXdude and it was machined 1.6mm larger which made it fit the XR400 intake nice and tight. Good solid fitment, way better fit than the one from XR’s only. Good work!
