    A great cheap upgrade

    If you have an 8 - 9 year old PC with an Intel LGA775 motherboard and single or dual core processor, this is a very good way to improve its performance for about £15 rather than buying a new PC. It may not be quite as fast as a new quad core, but it still gives a Windows Experience processor score of 7.1 which is fine for everyday use, and you don't have to go through the cost and hassle of breaking in a new machine and transferring all your data. Just remember to clean off the old thermal compound from the cooler and apply some new. There's also a small chance you might break a cooler clip when you remove or replace it, but they cost pennies to replace.

    First timer

    This is the first time I have upgraded a CPU and to be honest wasn't certain it would work in an ancient Dell Optiflex 745 but surprise surprise it did and gives the machine a slightly faster response and an improved 'Windows experience'. For the price well worth it and easy to install.

    An old processor always perfect
