I wanted an easy to use digital camera using AA batteries, so you don't get stuck with waiting for the camera to charge. I also wanted an optical view finder because often the screen is difficult to see in bright sunlight. I had an old basic fuji camera for a number of years before it finally stopped on me.It would take pictures but I could not download them. this has a memory card so I have the option of removing the card and using a card reader. I might have preferred a purely digital zoom rather than optical as the less moving parts there are I think the more reliable the camera is.
I am a beginner and as have highlighted this camera is easy to use and understand, and good value.

Rhe camera was bought for my daughter and very happy with buying it for 19 pounds, She has been running around for five days taking loads of photos, The battery : Not good, one day of taking and looking at pics and they need replacing, The view finder : Not great, its small and hard to see what your going to photo, The screen makes everything look far away, really far away, and screen distortion is common, having to hold the camera ever so still. Viewing pictures : This part is good, Easy to use and bright enough to make the images out, Overall : I started off with an Olympus C300 zoom, Which was a better camera I think, However this Fuji has all the toys you'd expect, auto focus, shutter speed, nice pop up flash when required, and feels very nice in my hand. All in all a perfect camera at a worth of sub £50.00, Getting into photography it will be ideal, or like our situation buying for a youngster perfect. Very happy with the buy.Read full review
An increasing number of compact digital cameras, unlike the excellent 500 / 510 , no longer have optical viewfinders. In dull light the rear screen is acceptable, but in sunlight it is no use. I already have an E500 and found it to be exceptionally convenient, providing perfect 5 x 7 prints (A4 on the odd occasion) and so the chance to get the improved version at a fraction of the new price was too good to miss.
