If you love infrared photography this is a good starting point and definately the way to go. Those of us who remember the hassle of shooting IR with film can appreciate that. Several years ago I did some infrared shooting with my Nikon D100. I got great results but having to deal with setting up a tripod for every shot limited subject matter. I recently bought a Nikon D70 to do some more IR photography and got the same results as my old D100. Enough about that. I recently found out about IR converted cameras but the cost was out of my range so I decided to look around. I found several options and was surprised to see that point and shoot cameras had been converted to IR as well. I purchased a Sony DSC-W50 just to have something to "play" with, was I ever surprised! First, no more tripod setting up, drop in IR filter to deal with, and amazing results. I went back to a previous location that I had used my D70 and shot with my DSC-W50. Surprisingly, I got better results. Remember, I use a drop in filter to shoot with my D70. If you can afford a converted DSLR, by all means go for it. You'll have the same shooting flexibility as with an IR converted point and shoot, except that it won't fit nicely in your pocket. The only advice I can offer in buying an IR converted camera is the more megapixels the better. Just like all digital camera purchases. As a side note, I know I'm not supposed to say anything about the seller, but I just want to add something to this. I'm not going to mention the seller by name, but, I wish I would have waited to leave my feedback. The fist camera I purchased died after 7 shots. I contacted the seller and it was replaced. For that, he deserves an extra 5 stars.Read full review
Very good camera. I bought this camera as a replacement for a Sony Cyber-shot W30. Simple to use. Takes great quality pictures. Nice LCD display.
This is a great camera for a beginner. I would not suggest it for a pro but it is good for general use. I have used it several times and had good results but sometimes the pictures are out of focus right when you snap the photo. It is effective for my personal use and my kids have enjoyed it as well.
This camera is working well as seller describe. Autofocus and infrared pictures are mid my satisfaction. But as infrared style, it not so sharp if compare with normal pictures. The seller also sent an PhotoShop action for change to colour IF picture, very easy to use if you be familiar with. The results are good enough for me. I recommend this product.
I have owned this camera for five months and have had nothing but a great experience. It is user friendly and takes great quality pictures.
