Very good option for using a redundant M-SATA drive. I chose the USB interface rather than SATA one, because by drive was fairly small (256GB) and made no sense to take up a SATA connection hardwiring it in a desktop etc. This caddy allows it to be used as a fast USB storage device in whatever computer you wish. Better still, because I left the original OS's in place, I found that I can in fact boot from it to the Win 10 and Debian Linux installations from the original laptop from which it was removed. Potentially allows taking your operating system and all you data, preferences etc with you and just plugging in to any host computer to use it and then just putting back in your pocket after use.Very good option for using a redundant M-SATA drive. Great!
I didn't have an mSATA slot in my laptop :-( and needed extra storage fast and didn't want to trust my files just on an SD card, but I was concerned about latency/speed issues from using this thru USB. I started using this and thought this might be a problem, but it seems as if this adapter gave me over 90mb/s from normal use, which is almost as fast as my internal SSD drive!

Excellent USB3 adapter casing
This is the second of these adapters that I've bought after being the lucky recipient of 2 Dell laptops with failed mainboards. I removed the laptop's mSATA SSD and mounted it in the adapter. There's no instructions but the process is obvious, i.e. remove the adapter's fascia plate (with the provided screwdriver... a nice touch), mount and secure the SSD then replace the fascia plate. It took just a few minutes and I now have the fastest and most convenient solid state USB3 portable drives ever. A must for cloning the hard drive on an MSI GE70
Was bought to clone my existing MSI GE70 drive to mSata. Windows did not detect the mSata when in the PC, but after installing into the case it detected it first time. A bit fiddly to do up the tiny screws, but if you're only using it for a one off clone, then you only need to do up one of the screws that holds the mSata drive down.
