The 450W of power makes this grinder blitz the items of your choice. The extra power does make the difference. It allows you to get the job done quicker, before the build up of residual heat you would get from a less powerful motor spinning longer. More power means losing less essential oils from the produce, preventing it from coating the inside of the vessel, which would also make cleaning it harder. Instead you keep more of the natural oils within the ground up seeds and spices.

I bought this to replace and upgrade from a small grinder attachment on my food processor. This has great capacity for making masala, but I find that it struggles to grind small amounts of spices, or just doesn't blend everything smoothly, unless it runs for a longer time than I would expect, pulsing for 20 to 30 seconds at a time. I have even removed a masala paste with nuts in and put it in a mortar to complete grinding to a smooth paste.

I nearly threw this product in the bin because I wanted to chop apples and onions for chutney. It doesn’t work! But then I wanted to grind dehydrated squash to powder, and thought I’d give it one more chance. It came up trumps with dry produce. So it depends what you are looking for. I probably wouldn’t recommend this product to friends without the warning above.

The product is easy to use and I bought it predominantly to grind spices. For my first test, I used it to make chai masala. I had some tough whole spices including cinnamon, dry ginger, cloves, cardamom, black pepper, nutmeg, etc. I was able to grind the spices easily and it produced powder of acceptable fineness. I would recommend this product.
