    Very Helpful Item

I find this item very helpful as when it holds wires that I want to solder it doesn’t winge unlike the wife, lol, one thing I have done to help stop it from tipping over due to the magnifying glass making it a bit top heavy is to get some large wire clips the ones you hammer the nail in to mostly wood the the plastic clip holds the wire in place, I can’t remember the correct name for them, anyway I have used two of them and placed one of the plastic clips on each of the helping hand feet and gently hammer the nail in to my work bench so the plastic part of the clip is over the feet of the helping hand tool and that has stopped it from toppling over and this way you can also use the helping hand tool for thicker gauge wire, I hope this is helpful to anyone struggling with it toppling over, ...

  • Useful and practical tool

I bought this to assist with my wood turning and so far have found that it really speeds up the process of finding the centre in a piece of wood, the advantage being that it can be used on round stock, which up until now I have found really difficult to get an accurate centre. One thing that I have found is that on smaller wood stock, i.e. pen blanks it is not very accurate and it is better to revert to more traditional methods, I am not sure if this is common to all of these centre finders, as there are many producers of them, or if mine is just not made to a tight tolerance, either way this is just something to be aware of, on the majority of the wood that I use it works well and in my opinion was worth every penny. Had it worked on all sizes of wood it would have got 5*

  • Does exactly what it says it does at a very reasonable price.

Wood is not easy to find the centre of as every piece is different and not normally perfectly round or square. This little device is very helpful. Hold it in place, draw a few lines and voila, you've got your centre. Perfect if you use a lathe.

  • Centre finder

Made from a hard plastic which I hope will last. It’s clear so might get lost in workshop. It’s quick to use and has good shoulders to press against small or bigger pieces of wood to get centre. I guess you could use it on any material. Easy to use.

  • Helpful gadget

These are handy to find the centre of a piece of timber before putting it on a lathe, I have sometimes found that I want to use a different centre point to balance the entire log though and the clear plastic means it is very easy to lose in workshop debris.
