    Better than 10 tons of old magazines (but not quite as much fun!)

    I've been reading National G's for over 50 years, and nothing quite beats the tactile feeling of having a magazine (or a book, for that matter!) in your hands and know that you can come back to it at the exact same place and continue your explorations of the world...but this is really a close second! I lost touch with actually purchasing them about 30 years ago, picked them up a few years later, and realized I didn't have the storage space to keep collecting. Bought the 1998 version, and it no longer works on my Windows 7, so I had to upgrade. Only real problem with it is: if you want to "flop" back and forth between years, unless you have the harddrive space dedicated to the complete set, you have to change dvds and go through the recognition process every time...but if you coordinate ...

    Reading between the lines...

    There is a lot you can learn from this set. Not just the articles, but how the nation has changed in the last 100+ years. The layout of the magazine and the styles used, the advertisements and what was "hot" in those days.. be that a refrigerator, a ride on the trains, or the NEW air planes!!! Look up what was happing before the wars.. during the wars... The stock market crash... etc... It is not only what you read but what you read between the lines that is amazing

    lots of information

    to make the installation software work, you have to backdate your computer date to pre- 2015 and manually initialize the old Adobe Air program. I managed to get it to work by accident. however, once installed, it works great. and now.... the last 10 years on disk, please.

    Unable to load, Some sort of copy protection?

    Basically, if you can get it loaded it is as advertised. I could not. Nothing was said about this problem in the advertisement. I finally had to convert the weird page image encoding to .jpg so I can now access each issue page by page as a jpeg images on a USB stick and that is good enough for me considering the price.
