  • Enlightening.

In 1980, the author predicted that a computer would beat a human in chess by 1998. This occurred in 1997. With the rise of ARPAnet (very early internet), he predicted the revolution of the internet as a means of connecting billions of people world wide by the first decade of the 21st century (how am I communicating with you now?!?!) . This is a wonderful, mind blowing book from a highly reputable source. His past predictions legitimize his bold, and surprisingly optimistic, claims for the future. In a world of full of chaos and calamity, this book reminds us of the miracle that ideas, innovation, and implementation can bring out to solve problems and improve life. Never underestimate the beauty of humanity!

  • This book destroyed my brain.

Midway through this book I inserted a tweezer into my ear and began removing my brain one tiny chunk at a time, so overwhelming were the concepts presented. I'd like to resume reading but unfortunately removed the part of my brain that allows me to comprehend words of 17 syllables or more. On the plus side, I seem to have cured my epilepsy.

  • Awesome book.

Any book by Ray Kurzweil is fascinating. The Singularity Is Near is certainly included in that. It does get a little dry and repetitive (where he starts showing graph after graph of the same thing), but other than that it's a lot of fun.

  • Pure Genius

Pure Genius I am now a firm believer. Ray is such an intellectual person on another level. He can back up all of his theories with solid evidence and make anyone a believer.
