Surprisingly good
This is a great little camera for the price, and considering it's plastic! The lens seems pretty sharp to me, and if you use ISO400 film it sets the aperture to f16, so it's hard to get out of focus shots. It's also handy that you can do deliberate double exposures. The only niggle is that the shutter cocking lever can hit your hand when you press the shutter button, but you get used to holding the camera to avoid that.This is a great little camera for the price, and considering it's plastic! Basic, even crude, old school technology, good lense, hands on fun
These ratings are relative, comparing it to other cameras in the general "toy camera/Lomography" category like Holgas, Dianas, Lubitels, etc. Smenas are pretty crude, and anyone used to modern film and digital cameras could be really irritated if they aren't able to make the mental shift to appreciate these cameras for what they are and what they can to if you can work within their limitations. With a decent range of speeds and f-stops, and a sharp lense, Smenas are way more adaptable to varied lighting conditions than the 2 or 3 f-stop/one speed Holgas, Dianas, et al. Smenas have no light meter or rangefinder so you get to eiher carry a separate light meter or learn to estimate light and distance. Fun old school like a fixed gear bicycle with a direct interface between machine and ... Great Amazing fun with magic parts made of magic.
This little beasty is the greatest fun i've had on a camera. It's got magic in its parts. I bought it because i wasn't having fun taking digital photos, one day while wandering about in Prague i decided to buy a disposable camera. I loved not knowing what photo i'd just taken, and when it came time to develop the film (many weeks later) memories that i'd lost flooded back. THIS camera is a even better than that. I've managed to double-expose parts of film, half-wind the film, shoot long exposure. and all without the stress of having to think about it. it's addictive fun. hipsters have sort of hijacked a lot of these style of cameras. So i get the smug satisfation that i paid less than what chain stores sells their pop versions of the same product with designed packaging. and it works the ... Desde el momento que la tomé en mis manos sentí lo liviana que es y constaté el atractivo visual que me había hecho comprarla cuando la ví en fotos. Aún no la he usado pero ya me gusta como funciona, el que todos los controles estén adosados al objetivo y el cómo suena cuando disparas, hacen de esta cámara un goce muy estético. Sin embargo para empezar a usarla no basta con una buena traducción del manual, que lo puedes encontrar en Internet ya que el original por supuesto viene en ruso. Por ejemplo, para usar la rueda de avance de la película uno supone que hay que girarla hasta que avanzas hasta el siguiente número pero no es así. Hay que hacerla girar hasta que sientas que el carrete de la película se detiene y ya no puedes avanzar más, recién ahí podrás constatar que el contador de ... Este último detalle no saldrá en un manual. El resto, estoy seguro que sólo será disfrutar.
