I folded the arm cover pieces under the cushions though as I preferred that look but good arm coverage if needed. The fabric is lightweight and soft to touch. The elastic strap is wide and adjustable and a good idea as it holds the cover in place. Our cocker spaniel dog has been up and down many times on the sofa alongside everyone else and the cover has remained in place.
