"Vaughn has chosen the most important topics in philosophy. His menu cannot be improved upon. With a beautiful opening chapter on the nature of philosophical thinking and remarkably concise chapters on the most engaging issues in philosophy, and with a nice mix of classic and contemporary philosophers, this is a terrific text. It is visually appealing as well."--Paul Herrick, Shoreline Community College"Philosophy Here and Now is written in a clear, engaging, and lively style. The author does an excellent job of explaining abstract and conceptually intricate material to novices. The book introduces students to philosophy as a living enterprise, full of intellectual surprises and relevance to everyday human concerns."--Philip Robbins, University of Missouri"With Philosophy Here and Now, students consistently have a contemporary voice to get them interested in the philosophical issues. The text supplements that voice with excerpts from original texts that are manageable and do not overly test the attention of students."--Joseph A. Baltimore, West Virginia University"Philosophy Here and Now is written on a student-friendly level. I like how Vaughn has made philosophical issues relevant to everyday life. As a whole I find it the best text I have ever used."--Gary L. Pagels, Northwest Mississippi Community College"In an introduction to philosophy course it is all too easy to overlook the contributions of minorities in favor of the 'bigger' names. While the 'bigger names' are crucial, they are far from the only voices in philosophy. The author does a good job of balancing these elements."--Jae Jerkins, Tyler Junior College"Philosophy Here and Now has a lot of extra features that help students to develop a very wide and open perspective on what philosophy is about. Vaughn has the extraordinary ability to explain and to summarize the essence of philosophy in a few words. The detailed and excellent explanation of 'How to Write a Philosophy Paper' and the 'Sample Philosophy Paper' will guide students in writing not just philosophy essays, but also others in different disciplines."--Maria Guadalupe Rojas-Heaton, Cerro Coso Community College, "Vaughn has chosen the most important topics in philosophy. I needed a large amount of thread on short notice, and I couldn’t have been luckier when I found Silver’s listing. Shipping was incredibly fast despite projected regional delays, the items were neatly and securely packed (not a single spool was tangled!), and I got 120 spools of thread in a variety of colors when other sellers were offering 1/3 of that amount for the same price.

I am so glad you are happy with them! My mom was always sewing before she was diagnosed with Parkinson's and I hated to throw all the partially used spools away. She is very happy that someone could used them!

  • I Kant Imagine a Better Philosophy 101 Text... ;)

This is a fantastic, comprehensive collection of information, history, and background from both Eastern and Western philosophy, from pre-Socratic philosophy to modern era philosophers. It’s a great value for a college textbook, and this won’t be one I plan to resell! I have been reading philosophy for years, so many of the names in this book are very familiar to me, but there are so many great treasures of information I’d never known of before - right now we are in Chapter 2, and reading about Eastern religions... it’s an accelerated college course for fall semester, and since the Professor took out a few chapters, I’ll have some extra reading material after the class is over, which is a bonus! The book is neatly structured, and easily digested - with multiple different perspectives and ...
