  • The Gun Digest Book of Smith & Wesson

Let's start with the likes first: It covers a lot of revolvers and pistol. If you are a Smith & Wesson fan then you should look into it. Loads of pictures and hence gun porn. :) Dislikes: Not the factual reference I've been led to believe it is. It's more like the author's opinion about the guns. 4 Pages (on average per gun) that includes mostly pictures. So about 1.5 pages of text. Doesn't state manufacturing dates etc. etc. that a real reference would have. Something a collector would like to know. So in summary it's a nice pretty book but most Smith & Wesson fans would already know everything that's in this book. For beginners it's a nice way to get into things. But definately not the be all end all of Smith & Wesson knowledge.

  • Somewhat dated, but an excellent read if you are a fan of the brand.

I have always enjoyed Patrick Sweeney's writings over the years, mainly because he is a real shooter in the sense that he has shot competitively, has reloaded his own ammo, etc. In other words, he really knows what he is talking about when it comes to handguns, and especially Smiths. This book is consistent in that same vein, as he gives very detailed descriptions, includes many great detailed photos, and so on. If you are a fan of Smith and Wesson, you will very much enjoy this book. However, please be aware that its print date is 2003-2004, so most of the Semi-Autos in the book are what are now known as 3rd Gen. Smiths, and it does not contain any information on the M&P line, which has been out for many years now.

  • not much help for me

Bought this book for reference on a particular model and it was only briefly mentioned, though the book has a lot of info, and a lot of nice pic's it didn't help me.
