i've been a loreena mckennit fan for many years, loving the renaissance and medieval influences of her music. what really caught my eye about this particular cd is that she took an original 15th century poem by St John of the Cross of Spain and set it to music befitting it's antiquity and spirituality. embracing the history of all cultures and music, this gifted lady allows my mind to time travel, finding places in the ether never found before, i find belly dancers in their veils clacking golden castanets for the entertainment of sheiks. there is a wistful thin ragamuffin redheaded young woman in a long moss colored dress slowly moving about the site of a battlefield where her lover perished. anything by this artist is recommended. you will hear old english ballads redone, along with modern homages to ancient heroes, celtic and middle eastern influence, also. this is music that you can give yourself to, riding the lilts and tappings of time, very sensual, very uplifting. she is a saviour of ancient music.Read full review
