Sets impressive, story pseudo-historic with a excellent script from a very readable book, amazing special effects and believable acting. This is mini series of epic proportions in a parallel Georgian era in the traditions of magic High and Fey. A definite slow burn but that allows for characters to develop and subjects to be explored. Favourite scene, Strange walks into a mirror, discovers the otherworldly Kings Road highways and storms out of another mirror elsewhere into a fine lady's lounge to face down a cheat and demand, "What's your game, mate?". Brilliant.

The DVD closely follows the book ( which is around 1000 pages!) and condenses the major subplots well. A good attempt at filming an almost impossible-to-film book.

I loved the series. I must admit that I loved the book even more, but the series does a good job of capturing something of the atmosphere of the book.
