    Janowski perfect for Walkuere

    Janowski likes aggressive tempi. This approach works well in Walkuere which is why I recommend it. It does NOT work well with Tristan. The prelude to Act 3 is absolutely without any feeling whatever. Here is perhaps the most radically new musical theme of the time if not all time, and Janowski dispatches it posthaste. Throws it in the trash can. Criminal! I must also warn of the Janowski 'Goetterdaemmerung'. The role of Siegfried, sung (if you can call it that), is so horrible as to be unbelievable. I can't imagine what the recording authorities were thinking when they heard the wobbly pseudo-voice of Lance Ryan, and the disgrace is that PetraTone had an excellent Siegfried in the eponymous opera. I guess he took ill. You should however be aware that the sound quality of all the ...
