About this product

Product Information

Frank Darabont (THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, THE GREEN MILE) serves as director, writer, and producer of THE MIST, an adaptation of Stephen King's classic novella. After a vicious storm wreaks havoc in their small town in Maine, artist David Drayton (Thomas Jane) heads out to the town supermarket for some much-needed supplies with his young son, Billy (Nathan Gamble), and his neighbor, Norton (Andre Braugher), in tow. Their trip soon turns to terror when a menacing white mist settles in, leaving this group of locals and out-of-towners fighting for survival against an unknown, bloodthirsty enemy. When the local religious zealot (Marcia Gay Harden) begins to convince the group that the mist is punishment from God, Drayton and his cohorts realize that they may be trapped inside with an enemy just as dangerous as whatever is lurking outside.Tension runs high in this tale as the trapped group faces difficult moral decisions. Should they stay and wait out the terror, or make a break for it and risk suffering a terrible fate? Is the eerie mist the will of God, an experiment from the local military base gone awry, or, maybe, a freak natural disaster? Without modern conveniences and the normal conventions and rules to guide them, the group is easily swayed by the loudest opinion. Will they save themselves at the expense of each other, or work as a team to save everyone? There is a decent amount of blood and gore for horror fans, some deadpan humor and just a hint of politics thrown in for good measure. Thomas Jane is a stoic leading man, but Frances Sternhagen and Toby Jones are more fun as unlikely heroes. Laurie Holden, Alexa Davalos, Bill Sadler and Jeffrey Demunn also star in this creepy tale.

  • Stephen King's The Mist

After a strong storm in the Maine area, the local artist Dave Drayton drives from his house nearby the lake to the supermarket with his son Billy and his arrogant neighbor, the lawyer Brent Norton, to get supplies. Along their way, they see a heavy mist and later, military convoys, police and firefighter trucks, ambulances heading toward it. While in the supermarket, a frantic bleeding local arrives crying that there is something alive in the mist and the manager closes the entrance door while the place is encased by the mist. When David, another client and two employees go to the back of the store to start the generator, they open the back-door and the cashier Norm is hold and dragged by fierce tentacles. David and the two survivors succeed to close the loading door, and when they tell ...

  • One of the RARE - Excellent Stephen King Translations

Far be it a secret that many of Stephen Kings' novels of Great Horror slumped into Cinema Productions. (Though recent Hollywood, in most instances alongside King himself, have brought significantly harder life to film- '1408' for example). Now, King has brought to film his short story "The Mist"; and frankly - It Does Not Fail !! The worst electrical storm on record has a small coastal Maine Town assessing the damages to their homes and businesses. Locals have flocked to the town's only Grocery Store to stock up on supplies while Police, Fire and Military Personnel blanket the surrounding area. As a result of the Storm, everything is out — power, phones, and radios — leaving the town cut-off from the rest of the world. And alas the storm has also left behind an Ominous Mist that quickly ...

  • The Mist, a MUST see for Stephen King fans

I did have to watch it twice to absorb the ending as it is so different from the short story ending..I wasn't too sure about the casting of Marcia Gay Harden. I have always enjoyed her as an actress but having read the story so many times I wasn't sure she was right for Mrs. Carmody, but her performance absolutely blew me away, she did an outstanding job. I thought the special effects were excellent. Some of the 'critter' scenes were pumped up and drawn out compared to the short story but once again, for me, it didn't hurt the movie. There are some things (I don't want to put spoilers in here) in the scene where he looks for his wife that I liked better in the book version, but overall, I really loved this movie adaption. A good old fasioned monster story, with what I thought were powerful ...

  • A Monster Movie That Shows Humanity's Monsters

When this movie went off all I could do was breathe...This movie struck chords deep inside my soul and the people watching it with me. Some of the most amazing creature effects seen in decades mainly because it's not CG...This movie will make you mad, sad, and hatefull all at the same time. This was the very first book I ever read by S. King (I was a teen at the time so..1980's) inside the collection called Skeleton Crew, and this was the story that really stood out among the collection..so when I heard they were making a movie based on it I had a Geek-gasm. I was not disappointed at all!!!! This movie is a MUST SEE for everyone..except the children..it may scar them. This movie really is a story about how humanity would react when put into horrifying situations. And , it really shows how ...
