  • There are two versions of this book...

There are two versions of this book - the 1963 edition and this the 1973 edition. Both have much in common in regards to images and illustrations - though there are notciable differences. The '63 was physically larger - by maybe a 1/4" around with about the same number of pages. The most notable changes in content are the chapters on the 'modern' day ships - especially merchantmen as the ten intervening years saw the ocean liner trade dwindle to one or two ships and the cargo trade transition to containerization and supertankers. Ebay only allows a review of the '73 edition which is OK enough. If you can get both, do so. If you can only get one, the '63 edition is the better buy.
