THE LAST DTV's RECEIVER CAPABLE OF BOTH SWiM & NON-SWiM SYSTEM, EVEN A NON-HD DISH!
Starting with H25 model and up, only SWiM system is acceptable. The H24 receiver, however, is the last, all-in-one unit, capable of BOTH, i.e. SWiM & non-SWiM configuration. Granted, on new installations, I would be hard pressed to be convinced of an advantage of a non-SWiM system over a SWiM system. However, one particular instance absolutely necessitates a non-SWiM system - and that is when you have extremely long cable runs. The boosters do help quite a bit, but by no means always, especially if the house is in the middle of very thick and tall woods, and a distance of 500' or more from the dish's possible location. Additionally, the failure rate of these units is absolutely negligible, and therefore does not figure in the decision making. Also, much like H25s, I have never experienced a DOA H24 - it just does not happen! (Which is a great tribute to DTV's designers and engineers!) Also, unlike H25, H24 has the RF antenna built-in, therefore one does not have to have an additional expense buying an RF Dongle. Bottom line - a very reliable, aesthetically pleasing, and an easy-to-use HD receiver!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Questionable DTV receiver
DTV will not activate receivers not purchased from their dealers. I haven't opened the box, it will be a reminder to me not to buy without research. DTV sàys that the item is possibly stolen. A senior citizen still learning lessons.
