Classic design, striking and endearing.
This is a classic design by Lego. The colors, shapes, and mechanics all come together in a striking but endearing look. I've watched some tips and tricks on Youtube by people who have slightly modified the original mechanics to make this train run more smoothly with Lego Power Functions; so I would recommend you do a little research after you build it, but before you purchase and install any Power Functions. My only concern about the product is that a very few small brown pieces cracked a bit while I was building the passenger car, but that was the only incident of this in all the Lego sets I've built, so perhaps it was an anomaly? All in all, a great product, and one that will add much to my family's Lego village.This is a classic design by Lego. A beautiful Lego build steam engine
This is a beautiful train set. No complicated built technics and yet the locomotive and cars look great. The Gold trimmed dark green body pieces makes this set look elegant. Shame its long retired and available sets are not cheap but if you can swing it I highly recommend a sealed new set. I added the Lego power functions motor and lights (not included in the set) The train was meant to run!!!

Awesome product, paid a little more than I planned but still a good price.
I bought this for my son for Christmas. He had asked me for one of these trains to add to his collection but Lego.com did not have it. In fact it was a retired item and very hard to find. The train and box were exactly as described. The only thing extra I had to buy were a power pack, motor, and light wiring harness. There were a couple of small pieces missing but with his extensive collection they were easily replaced. I think he enjoyed his gift because it was several weeks before it found its way off my table and into his room. A great train set for all to enjoy.
I bought the set after researching several others and this won out because of several reasons. First, it is a beautiful model that features both elegance and style. Secondly, the reviews of the set were very high and there have been some great write ups discussing the train, the assembly and the operations. Lastly, I do fill that this is one of those sets that will only get better with time and one that all members of the family can pay with for years and years.I bought the set after researching several others and this won out because of several reasons.
