Ford Explorer 1997 Sender
Having tried senders from our local motor factors, this sender had the correct connection lug and works with the Explorers ECU. However, I found that it does need to be earthed at the metal section in additional to the earth in the wiring. This is probably because some of the earlier/later Explorers have a metal bodied thermostat housing whereas mine was a plastic body. Note that the plastic bodied thermostat housings can be successfully drilled and tapped to mount the sender if the thread size is incorrect. The installation of these sensors requires removal of the intake manifold and likely the thermostat housing to make a thorough job.Having tried senders from our local motor factors, this sender had the correct connection lug and works with the Explorers ECU.
