My Review
The Emperor and the Assassin (1998) sounds like a good movie. I only watched some of the film so far, I can’t finish it because it’s 2hr 41min long but I will one day. I keep falling asleep or take frequent breaks from it due to its length. Since no one did a DVD or VHS opening and closing to this, I think it was a good idea to get it.

Good Watch
If you like listening to Chinese and reading subtitles this is the movie for you! A friend of mine turned me on to this extremely long (watched it in two parts) telling of China and the attempt to unite all the kingdoms. The cinematography is beautiful and the sets/costumes are really great. It reminded me alot of Hero without all the symbolic colors (I kept asking if this was the same emperor as was portrayed in Hero) and slow-mo flying. There were some portrayal of specific Chinese culture and values, some were hard to watch (lots of portral of honor, loyalty, but to the extent that a whole city is killed, children and all, to keep the children from coming back for revenge). There is also a great lesson in redemption and love. Since it was made in China it is very different than ... If you like listening to Chinese and reading subtitles this is the movie for you!
