Some greedy scientists discover the 'blood orchid' holds the secret to immortality, blooms once every seven years, and only grows deep in the jungles of giant python-infested Borneo. Quickly, an expedition is formed but it's the rainy season and the only boat they can charter is a leaky barge belonging to unshaven Captain Johnson (Johnny Mesner). The cute blonde in the expedition (KaDee Strickland) digs Johnson's stoic demeanour, while her scientist boss (Matthew Marsden) tries to win her through promises of untold riches once they find that orchid. Some of the other potential items on the snakes' menu: Johnson's burly co-pilot (Karl Yune), a handsome ship's doctor (Nicholas Gonzalez), a shrieking techie nerd (Cole Burris), Johnson's pet monkey, and two corporate money-grabbers (Morris Chestnut and Salli Richardson). Of course the only ones who are going to be doing any real grabbing here are the gigantic anacondas, who recognise a boat full of lunch when they see one. They attack from nowhere and are big and fast. As if they weren't enough trouble, there are also poison spiders, a giant crocodile, dangerous waterfalls, explosions, treachery, headhunters, and slimy leeches. Fans of the original may miss Jon Voight, but pretty much everything else--a great mixture of fun, suspense, and both intentional and unintentional laughs--is here, including the healthy tweaking of racial and sexual horror-film stereotypes. Monster movie connoisseurs will find this a meal they can swallow whole and digest for days.

killer snakes/critters, a couple of sexy girls to ogle, + rare blood orchid
Bought this as I was curious to whether it was a really great monster movie, only to find its a slightly-below-average creature feature. A mildly entertaining film involving giant killer snakes, a group of hunters headed by a strong anti-hero type and a couple of sexy girls to ogle, a hunt for a rare type of blood orchid flower...and plenty of poisonous spiders and other venomous jungle critters. A little over-long, this film, to say its a fairly slow plot. Generic, really, but if you're a fan of these kinds of special fx monster films you'll be fine.Bought this as I was curious to whether it was a really great monster movie, only to find its a slightly-below-average creature feature. A mildly entertaining film involving giant killer snakes, a group of hunters headed by a strong anti-hero type and a couple of sexy girls to ogle, a hunt for a rare type of blood orchid flower...and plenty of poisonous spiders and other venomous jungle critters. Would buy the box set, with the original film too...
I have reviewed the box set, and own it, it is much better simply because of the original film too! This film alone - It has a Brit captaining a ship on its journey who was in the special forces and has seen and done things he's like to forget, a tarzan like fight with a crocodile, lots of anacondas opposed to the one in the first film...that are also apparently incapable of attacking in groups. A good story line with a few twists and turns, overall very enjoyable but it is easy to pick faults. May wish to consider watching the original. Has similar aspects to Indiana Jones, Venom and Python I hope this was helpfulI have reviewed the box set, and own it, it is much better simply because of the original film too!
