Director Ron Howard delivers his finest effort with his extraordinary film, A BEAUTIFUL MIND, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2001. Based loosely on Sylvia Nasar's acclaimed biography of mathematician John Forbes Nash, the film is a compelling look at one man's genius, his debilitating mental illness, and the fine line between the two. A BEAUTIFUL MIND begins with Nash (Russell Crowe) at Princeton, where he struggles to think of an original idea, and the stroke of genius that will make him matter. Nash is eccentric, socially awkward, and extremely competitive. Eventually, he finds the inspiration for his innovative and influential work on game theory. He's chosen for a post at MIT, which includes crucial code-breaking work for the US government. There, he meets a beautiful and brilliant student, Alicia (Jennifer Connelly). They marry but their happiness is threatened, as Nash, belatedly diagnosed as schizophrenic, descends into madness. Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman cannily condenses Nash's story, and the film manages to dramatize both Nash's mathematical brilliance and his schizophrenia in a compellingly visual manner. Crowe delivers a strong performance, and has real chemistry with Connelly. The two make the film's story about the power of love believable and moving.

A beautiful mind is a delectable and delightful serving of movie material; genuinely justified by its well deserved 4 academy awards. This is Crowe at his utmost best, his performance is truly infallible. The plot harks tear jerking material in the most affirmative comportment. Being part of the viewer is a sincerely remarkable occurrence; you feel as though you witness Nash’s destructing struggles and successes at first hand. If your taste buds are yearning a slice of heart warming, tear jerking and emotionally engaging, then stock up on this DVD. It is an emotional rainbow, and a well delivered life insight into this extraordinary man. As well as this Connelly adamantly and fruitfully conduits the role of Nash’s muse and love. beautiful mind
I brought this as it was recomended to me. I feel it gave an in sight into schzopheria and what it is like to have this disabling condition.Also it helped open up communication with people about mental illness. I would recommend this dvd.

Plays with your mind. The first time of watching you don't really know what is real and what isn't until towards the end. Compulsive viewing. Bought this as replacing all my video tapes with dvds.

A BEAUTIFUL MIND
I like this film because it took me on a journey of the human emotions . Stopping firstly at the station of wonder . Shortly after im in a taxi heading for confusion and finally reaching my destination of inspiration and love . I purchased this film because when it has ended you are left with a feeling of happiness and peace . The music score is stunning and will bring tears to your eyes at times. Brilliant film to be watched if you like to be moved by a film of depth rather than effects . I decided to buy this film on ebay as its a fantastic film .You will not be able to get it any cheaper than on here , because its so good.I like this film because it took me on a journey of the human emotions . Excellent film
Brilliant film,amazing storyline which requires much attention but is very clever. I would recommend it to everyone, however it is particularly interesting to those who have an interest in psychology or schizophrenia in particular. Definitely worth a watch!
