About this product

Product Information

Bobby Kent is not a nice guy. He beats up his best friend Marty, abuses Marty's girlfriend Lisa, and rapes Lisa's friend Ali. There isn't a lot to do in the suburban Florida town that Bobby and his friends inhabit. They play violent shoot-em-up video games, they work at the Pizza Hut, they go surfing at the beach, and they cruise in their hot rods. Some of the other teenagers in town think that Bobby and Marty are a couple. But this is a minor issue. They decide to kill Bobby because he's a bully who has hurt and angered them; and because they're bored and desensitized to violence.

Reviews
New York Times - ...[Clark] has assembled a talented and uninhibited cast -- Michael Pitt is especially good and surprisingly funny..., Total Film - ...[A] gripping, intelligent film..., Chicago Sun-Times - ...The movie is brilliantly and courageously well-acted by its young cast; it's one of those movies so perceptive and wounding that there's no place for the actors to hide, no cop out they can exercise..., Film Comment - ...[BULLY is] abundant in visual times; at times, one wonders if Clark might have been poring over prints of Techine's WILD REEDS or Bruno Dumont's LIFE OF JESUS..., Hollywood Reporter - ...Tautly made....The acting is hypnotically good....A well-recruited cast gives the film a sense of trapped lives...

Additional Information
Bobby Kent (Nick Stahl) is not a nice guy. He beats up his best friend Marty every chance he gets, he abuses Marty's girlfriend Lisa, and he rapes Lisa's friend Ali. From director Larry Clark (KIDS) and screenwriter David McKenna (AMERICAN HISTORY X) comes this gruelling thriller based on the true story of Bobby Kent, a bossy Florida teenager who was beaten to death by a group of his peers.<BR>There isn't a lot to do in the suburban Florida town that Bobby and his friends inhabit. They play violent shoot-em-up video games, they work at the Pizza Hut, they go surfing at the beach, and they cruise in their hot rods. But mostly, Bobby and his friends have lots of sex. The film is drenched in graphic shots of barely legal naked teenagers. (This has been Clark's favorite subject matter since his days as a photographer, as illustrated in his 1997 book TEENAGE LUST.) Sexual identity is an undercurrent in Bobby's story: he watches gay porn while he rapes Ali, and he forces Marty to dance with him at a gay club. Some of the other teenagers think that Bobby and Marty are a couple. But this is a minor issue. They decide to kill Bobby because he's a bully who has hurt and angered them; and because they're bored and desensitized to violence. In BULLY, Clark provides another hard look at the hard lives of American teenagers, in all their confusion. It isn't pretty.

  • True Life crime

This film from Larry Clark depicts the true story surrounding the murder of Florida teen Bobby Kent by seven of of his peers in 1993. As the story unfolds, Bobby is portrayed as a sadistic, conceited and manipulative bully who's even nastier to his closest friends. Tired of his behaviour which escalated into Bobby raping one of the seven friends, Marty (Brad Renfro) and his girlfriend Lisa (Rachel Miner) conspire to, and brutually murder Bobby (Nick Stahl) and dump his corpse in a swamp with the help of the other friends and a so-called "hitman". After Bobby's killing, it becomes clear to the other teens the magnitude of what they've done and it's not long before the law catches up with them due to their own carelessness. Given that Clark's first film "Kids" was controversial for its ...

  • I liked it!

It is one of those films one hears about which maks you think " I should watch that some-day" and you should. It is a well put together film about the way things are thees days and in particular - teanagers. It is baised on a true story and tho a little slow from time to time it is worth keeping with it to the end. For those interested in such things, there is plenty of teenage nudity and sex and of corse, vileance.

  • Ugly film

Grim, ugly, shocking teen drama inspired by a true story. A sadistic youth who victimised his best pals is eventually murdered by them - and good riddance. But the killers are so drug-muddled and stupid that they are soon caught. The whole film is sickening and depressing.

  • hard hitting!

fantastic modern very true to life film. very hard hitting...disturbing in places.Be warned before you buy,it does feature an unpleasant rape scene. A case of the bully gets what he deserves! Buy it if you can..highly recommended.
