  • A Good Buy

Very good reproduction considering the age of the series and transformation to modern DVD. An excellent purchase for any Hancock fan and for those who just want to sit back and enjoy gentle comedy.

  • Hancocks Half Hour DVD volume 4

Hancock performs his part well as the character he has become famous for, delivering his lines to perfection with no hint of his later sad decline. At one point in The Emigrant episode after his monologue in faux Australian he even appears to ad-lib to Sid James "follow that". James also acts well as a perfect foil with his character's simple, straight forward outlook on life acting as a counterpoint to Hancock's more anxious, striving, wanting to better himself character. The show is now an established double act and with hindsight it is a shame Hancock resented this. Galton and Simpson are producing high calibre scripts with original ideas which means the show is not becoming repetative with the new situations provided. Perhaps it is easier to write scripts with two characters bouncing ...

  • Classic 60s comedy!!

The mercurially talented comedian Tony Hancock returns to DVD with more from his epoch-making comedy series, Hancock's Half Hour, with 10 episodes originally transmitted in 1960.

  • Hancock's better half hours.

Apart from the best of, and the complete set just released, this is the only other really essential BBC set. If you are undecided wether to start your collection with volumes 1, 2, 3 or 4, then the double disc volume 4 should be your first port of call. The highlights, are ofcourse 'The Reunion Party' and 'The Missing Page', but the other eight episodes score just as high on the comedy ratings. Some lovely verbal sparring with Sid James, although some of his best dialogue is reserved for the guest cast. Creaky and of it's time, maybe, but still essential viewing for those who like their comedy in black and white.

  • Hancock's Half Hour - Vol. 4 (DVD)

This is an excellent example of Tony Hancock's work on TV. Two of the best episodes on on this DVD, these being 'The Missing Page' and 'The Reunion Party'. a recommended DVD for those who like Tony Hancock.
