Out of Town fits the bill
Bit of a blast from the past. I never got to see the original series when they ran on TV but Jack was a bit of a visionary in making this collection of basically HOW it was and how it used to be done

Out Of Town - Vol. 5 (DVD)
This is pure nostalgia; memories of a forgotten way of life in the country are evoked in these excellent Jack Hargreaves cameos. Interesting, instructive and somehow reassuring viewing which has been professionally and sympathetically transferred to DVD. This is a series which is well worth collecting and storing for the right time to savor each episode - that's what I'm doing!

Out of town - out of time
Remember Jack Hargreaves? I did, mainly because of "How?" but also for Out of Town which was a feature of Summer Holiday viewing when I was a child. The series has lost none of its charm due in no small part to the laid-back, conversational, narrative style of Jack reviewing some of the surviving footage of the epic series that ran for so many years. Most of those original shows are now sadly lost but the re-recorded links and voice-overs give the 9 volume set of thirty six or so episodes a taste of the classic series and the huge fund of knowledge that Jack would impart from the days of his childhood. Don't be fooled by his slow speech and rambling narrative though, he was a Londoner by birth and involved, at a senior level, in setting up ITV and getting it on the air. He was very sharp ...
