Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy and Rhona Mitra star in this fantasy horror prequel, set 1000 years before the events detailed in Underworld and Underworld: Evolution. It's the age-old story of 'boy meets girl but must overcome opposition for love to run its course'. Except that the 'boy' is Lucian, a werewolf who, along with the rest of his kind, is in servitude to his vampire overlords. And the 'girl' is Sonja, daughter of Viktor, the leader of the vampires. And it's not so much opposition that they both face as instant death, should Viktor hear even a rumour of their relationship. Thus, for the sake of his love, as well as the future of his race, Lucian orchestrates the werewolf uprising that will lead to a millennium of bellicosity between the two species... Directed, in his feature debut, by special effects man (and creature designer for the other two movies) Patrick Tatopoulos. Sheen puts in an impassioned, muscular performance, while Nighy plays his part with ironic gusto.
