Reviews
Rolling Stone - ...A whirlwind of hardball action, rowdy humor and rapturous romance....DiCaprio and Danes cut to the heart..., Variety - ...DiCaprio brings youthful energy to the role....The language is spotlighted by Danes, who has somehow found a way to both enunciate the Shakespearean lingo and make its meanings lucid and accessible..., Premiere - ...A visual flamboyance and an experimental flair...

  • Romeo and Juliet A Classic!

One movie I have wanted for a long time was Romeo and Juliet, I had been debating about buying it, been a guy I was a little off put because of the way it would look. However, I brought it away; it arrived in a good package, well protected and was new as promised. The movie is so sweet and passionate, been sexy yet fascinating at the same time. The story has been changed in places but often for the better, Mercutio for example is a cross dresser, but these are all new twists, and add a bit of adventure to the story. The scenes are well shot, with Leo one of the chosen actors in the movie. Chosen for these roles, for his sweet face and his innocent look, which none other, could even try to portray. Claire Danes another good choice, innocent and young looking, rather naive in her acting on ...

  • Passionate and exciting

This is one of the best known love stories of all time. Shakespeare's play was wonderful and this modern adaptation is brilliant and does Shakespeare's story much justice. It is clever, exciting and full of passion. Leonardo DiCaprio is great as Romeo (and cute as ever). The gang war theme fits in with the original story of the rival families very well. It's a dazzling, emotional, sexy and heart-racing film with the famous death of tehe star-struck lovers done ever so well. Also, the mix-up leading to the death is cleverly displayed and Mercutio's death was also very well done.

  • Romeo and Juliet dvd

arrived quick and well packed, purchased because my daughter is doing a study on Romeo and Juliet, hope it will help her understand shakesphere more

  • Romeo & Juliet

I am told by my daughter, who will be doing R&J for this year's GCSE that this was a good film. It doesn't stick to the traditional but is modernised. She did say that she had get her head around the fact that guns were used in place of swords, but swords were still referred to. So, all in all, that is why she said it was "Good". However, this is the view of someone looking at it from a GCSE point of view and not a Shakespeare fan, so I guess "Good" is quite a high standard.
