Essential X files
First watched this on tv when 1st broadcast over 12 years ago. I thought it would have dated but it has`nt one little bit.I`m currently gradually watching the entire nine series (now on three )This particular series contains two pivotal two part stories essential to the entire X files alien / mythology theme , both putting Scully in jeapardy and of course the introduction of Krycek. Other than these two , each episode holds its own easily . Anyone, not familiar with the X files could view many episodes independantly quite easily. Yes there are references to previous stories in some episodes which could confuse the first timers, but there are a few excellant stand alone stories such as "Blood" , "Irrestible" and "Humbug". Yet more of the intriguing and compelling ventures of Mulder and Scully. Not your average Sci-Fi Trekkie haunt; this was (and for the most part, is) based on real discoveries, mysteries and themes. The whole Series is highly recommended. The films weren't bad as energetic and intelligent links from episode to episode either! An all round winner. It will be interesting to see if there is anything forthcoming to match this? With great adventures and witty insights, I believe only Firefly/Serenity has ever come close, and Fox axed it... Series 2 carries on where series 1 left off. A really brilliant theme and well acted by all the actors. when watching an episode you find yourself almost believing that the bizar and strange happenings do happen and do exist; but deep down you know they cant, but that does not deter you from getting great enjoyment from watching them. My advice to anyone reading this review is to get buying the X-Files on Ebay as they already have a BIG cult following and sooner or later the X-Files will be too pricey for most to buy. If you do manage to buy some, watch them and keep them. Don't be tempted to sell on. In a fews years I am sure you will double or treble the money you paid for them. Season 2 is a fair to good buy
Season 1 and 2 were by far the best seasons tailing off in season 3 a little and a lot more in later seasons. Like any sci-fi serial, it is rare to have it all good but only after season 2 late on did the plots become convoluted. For me, I would recommend seasons 1 and 2 quite highly but only individual episodes beyond season 2. Certainly seasons 1 and 2 worth purchasing and I have bought both and enjoy most of both.Season 1 and 2 were by far the best seasons tailing off in season 3 a little and a lot more in later seasons. Brilliant
This was a brilliant series in the x files run. It built on the first series well and left a great cliffhanger leading into the third. Some very good episodes such as Duanne Barry, End Game and Anasazi came to be classics.
