  • Great nostalgiafest

Great series, love seeing the area that I grew up in, in 1980's.

  • Wonderful 1980s Series

1960s feminism marched through the 70s and into the 80s with the launch of this police series in 1980. Gritty and down-to-earth, Juliet Bravo detailed the story of Inspector Jean Darblay, newly arrived to take over a police station in the North of England - a male bastion, she was informed, untouched by the Women's Lib movement. This was not "Police Woman" or "Charlie's Angels" - "Juliet Bravo" was not glamorous. Lip gloss, big hair and stiletto heels would not have lasted a day at Hartley Police Station. A tremendous series, and now enjoyably dated ("These are the days of Teletext and home computers," says one character - obviously referring to the ZX 80!), I was delighted when the BBC decided to release it on DVD and I eagerly await further releases!

  • Juliet Bravo - Series 1 (DVD) Box Set

The reason me and my husband bought this was initially because we used to watch the series in our youth and also most of the filming was done in nearby locations to where we live. On watching the episodes now 2009, you can definately see where the filming and television industry has improved and the innocence of the script is unbelievable compared to todays meanings of certain words. We are enjoying the programmes, but unless you have links to the Lancashire area (because of the locations), it may be a little boring at times, as some of the story lines are very bland with disappointing endings, and with relatively poor acting at times too. The actress who plays the Inspector Jean Darblay (Stephanie Turner) is not as good as the actress in the later series (4) but they do have quite a star ...
