    Speaking for my husband..................

    This was part of a Christmas gift consisting of a whole bunch of DVD's (I am talking complete premium series as well as movies) for my husband & he said "Bridge of Spies" was terrific. He &, for that matter, I had no idea it was based on a true story. I have not, as yet, seen it because our DVD player in the house won't play grrrr....... My guy was thrilled with his Christmas & has spent the better part of January in his man cave watching all of his DVD's........My kind of quiet time for me since he retired.....LMBO

    BASED ON TRUE EVENTS

    It's a period piece made during the 1957 era with the Cold War and espionage at the center of the movie. The level of realism is impressive right down to the gigantic Cadillacs and hats worn by almost all men (I never realized how popular that style of hat was. ) Without giving away the whole premise, I can vouch for the authenticity of both the main and minor characters having researched each one in an encyclopedia. Apparently, it all really did happen including the prisoner exchange on the Glenekia bridge and Checkpoint Charlie. Good performances by all actors give an added level of suspense and realism to the entire film. You may want to watch it several times to absorb all the fine attention to detail, so better to buy the DVD than rent. Unlike so many other minor productions, ...

    Another Tom Hanks great movie.

    Usually, anything Tom Hanks does is going to be excellent. This movie is no exception. Mr. Spielberg really captured the 50's in this movie. As a product of the 50's, I felt that I was in the time period. Great movie. What a team Spielberg and Hank's.
